Ecotyl | Case Study

A Good Company Knows How to Make the Best Products, but the Best Ones Know How to Make a Brand Out of it!

Ecotyl was founded in 2021 with the mission of promoting organic food in the most sustainable way possible. Ecotyl offers a wide array of products, including eco-friendly products like toothbrushes and handmade organic soaps. We are constantly looking for new ways to make the brand more sustainable. I was commissioned to make a completely new brand identity, packaging design, and communication from the ground level. The packaging design should be minimal with a sustainable look and feel, aimed at young people and those who prefer organic food as a solution.

Background/Insight

Ecotyl was founded in 2021 with the mission of promoting organic food in the most sustainable way possible. Ecotyl offers a wide array of products, including eco-friendly products like toothbrushes and handmade organic soaps. We are constantly looking for new ways to make the brand more sustainable. I was commissioned to make a completely new brand identity, packaging design, and communication from the ground level. The packaging design should be minimal with a sustainable look and feel, aimed at young people and those who prefer organic food as a solution.

Solution

Designed a completely new brand identity, including 60+ product packaging and brand stationery. This concept was created in the most simplistic way possible while keeping in mind that most of the products will be used by housewives. Indian consumers prefer novelty, but in traditional ways, the packaging was given a bright yet neutral tone to improve communication. The additional patterns were to distinguish each category from the others. This consistent appearance became a strong link between the packaging and the communication.

Ecotyl offers a wide range of products, and thus it was a challenge to create variations in logo and appearance that would suit all of them and represent their unique identity. We needed a design that would be easy to remember yet also highly adaptable for their large range of products. The solution was to incorporate minimalist elements, such as circles to indicate pulses, and some other components to add some liveliness. This way, the client may always identify an Ecotyl product, but the design may be modified according to size or shape.

There are two ways to attract customers - a fantastic product and great packaging. We had fantastic products, and so the task was to make sure that the packaging was up to the mark too! So we took inspiration from nature itself and created a design that would make the products look like they belong in the hands of royalty. And we are sure that when you hold our products in your hand, you will agree!

Each of products is unique in a certain way, and we made sure that the packaging represented that. By giving them a unique touch and their own personality, we created a design that would make the products stand out on their own creating a unique yet a simple image in the minds of the customers. Here our little elements came into play again - each product has a different element that makes it special and different from the rest.

The brand is derived from nature, its products are all natural, and so we made the packaging out of natural materials that represent sustainability.
The brown kraft paper with the minimalistic design gave the products a rustic look, and the earthy tones used in the design represented the natural ingredients used in the products. The labels too are made of recycled paper, avoiding the use of any plastic. The organic penne pasta packing you see on the right is one of our many designs - it is simple and elegant and tells you everything you need to know about the product at a glance. And most importantly, all of it is recyclable and sustainable!

A fantastic product, eco-friendly packaging, and a unique design - that's what makes Ecotyl different from the rest! However, one thing was still left to do with our items. And that was to a social media account for our brand. And so we decided to create a uniform theme and collateral designs for all our social media platforms. The color palette, visuals, and overall feel of the brands social media accounts were carefully curated to match the products and the brand. The goal was to create a cohesive and consistent look that would reflect the quality of the products.

The final result is a brand that is modern, minimalistic, and yet connected with nature. A brand that is easy to recognize and remember. A brand that customers can trust. Each of our products is in a league of its own. While brand’s social media and the website are a perfect way to connect with customers and create a community
